C-Spine for dummies?

It’s one thing to need a reminder of where the head goes on a backboard, but once you place the head at the marked location you SHOULD be able to figure out where the feet go…..

Now if we were to quit needlessly putting everyone on backboards, then we could solve this dilemma.

Wait, is that where I put my feet or the patient’s feet? More instructions needed. :)

Come to think of it, I’m not sure….

Back when I still believed in spinal immobilization, I conceived a spine board that could be used for children and adults. Hollow out an occipital well at the foot of a standard, tapered adult spine board, and put another set of strapping cutouts inboard of the ones you normally see.

Secure an adult to the board conventionally, but put the kids on the foot end of the board, and use the inboard strapping points.
